I live in Duxbury and happen to buy this salt not knowing it was from Duxbury its delicious and I use it mostly as a finishing salt.I needed it for a recipe, so I bought this. Very small box for the price. I wouldn't buy it again because regular see salt would have worked just as well in the recipe instead of this fancy expensive salt.I bake a lot (especially bread) and so I use a lot of flake salt, and quality is really important to me. My favorite is Maldon Sea Salt Flakes. It's just a superior flake salt and I find myself comparing every flake salt to that one.SalterieOne: Classic Sea Salt Flakes didn't measure up on texture. In the picture, the Maldon flake salt is on the left and the SalterieOne flakes are on the right. As you can see in the picture, SalterieOne lacks shine and it is more in clumps than flakes. As far as flavor, I prefer the Maldon brand. However, I had my family (6 other people) do a taste test and all but one family member preferred the SalterieOne. So there's that, and I will add a star for my them, because if they prefer it, then others will as well. This SalterieOne Sea Salt does the job for which it’s intended, and who could ask for anything more; it’s flaky, it’s salty, it’s responsibly packaged in a resealable zip-lock plastic bag and it’s handmade by a company founded, owned and operated by women entrepreneurs from the waters off Duxbury Bay, MA.I normally rate commodities that are indistinguishable from each other regardless of brand, such as pantry staples, with three stars unless clear discriminants make one better or worse than the norm. In the case of this salt, the product itself is plain sea salt—DUH!—but I like its packaging and the philosophy and work ethic of SalterieOne, the company behind it. Those factors elevate it above its more commonplace competitors and warrant an additional star.I like sea salt because it seems saltier than standard salt-box salt. This has a nice, salty flavor. I would recommend saving it for when you are baking something that calls for a pretty salt-flake garnish. Otherwise, the price is really high to use this as table or cooking salt -- $11.99 for 3.8 oz as I wrote this. And, I think you can get sea salt flakes cheaper, if you want.Once I got my hands on good salt, I never looked back. I use "normal" salt as we call it in our household for things like boiling pasta, etc. But when it comes to salt that goes into dishes or is used to top food (mm, salted chocolate chip cookies) I only use the good flakey flour de sel/salt.I had never used nor heard of SalterieOne before. The women-owned and made in the USA with salt artisans caught my eye, so I thought why not and decided to give it a try. The texture is fantastic, the salt flakes are light are are reminiscent of snow. And the flavor is wonderful. I made some chocolate peanut butter cookies and finished them with a pinch of this salt and the savory and sweet combination made for a very empty platter in no time. I love the taste and the look of these and will definitely consider buying more when I run out.I really love to cook and to try new recipes. Lately, especially for chocolate desserts, I've seen salt flakes as an ingredient -- often optional. I've never had flakes on hand, although I've had sea salt. So I was happy to see these offered for review, and I know this is something that some friends of mine, also cooks and bakers who like to experiment with new recipes would love a box of these for those recipes that do come along and ask for them. The box is just right -- a modest amount so it's easy to tuck into the pantry with my other special spices and know that the next recipe for chocolate cookies, for instance, that calls for salt flakes, I won't have to skip that part of the recipe! And who knows, after looking at the video about this brand, I may end up wanting to use their gourmet salt flakes for lots more than just special chocolate desserts! Not really sure how to accurately describe this salt other than its very “fresh” tasting compared to other sea salts I’ve purchased. The flakes are big and salty and I can’t get enough of it. I use this on my toast in the morning and it’s so, so good. No additives in this, just pure salt flakes. Kind of fluffy looking too which I’ve never seen.Overall highly recommend, really great flavor and tastes amazing on toast!
